-Unique Piece-
Beautiful and practical storage box for small items from southern Colombia. This wooden box was handmade and decorated using the Mopa-Mopa technique. This technique is one of the few handicrafts still preserved by the indigenous people of this region (Nariño department).
The Mopa-Mopa resin is extracted from a shrub and transformed into a thin film through a traditional heating process. Later, the surfaces of various wooden objects are decorated with it. The craftsman develops the design while manually gluing the resin sheet to the object.
Please check the details of this craft in the Techniques section on our webpage.
